5870/5850 cross fire ??

I currently have a 5870 and am looking for a bit of a boost, mostly due to swtor being so consuming of the card.

i have seen a 5850 for sale and wondered if i could crossfire it with my current card and if it be worth it.

would i be worth changing the card completely?

Yes it will crossfire, but, it's very silly and not worth it. The 5870 will down clock to 5850's specification and therefore will become 5850 crossfire. Here is a review:
