I've just picked up a Nokia 6230 (replacement for the 7210) and love it as
it has a lot of features that just weren't available but wanted when I
bought my last phone. Love the fact you can make an mp3 your ring tone,
that you can link a photo to a person's contact name (so their image pops up
on the screen when they ring). Just wish they were able to pack all those
features into a smaller box.
The one thing I've not been able to do is transfer videos onto the phone.
The Nokia PC Suite allows you to convert an mpeg to Nokia's 3gp format and
I've been able to transer mp3s and images files using Nokia Audio Manager
and Nokia Image Converter. Unfortunately the Nokia Multimedia Player only
allows conversion of files to 3gp, and not transfer to the phone, so I tried
using the Phone Browser to do this by (by dragging the file to the phone
icon) but I get a message, "This operation is not possible."

mine works fine, it's not because the file's too big?

Shouldn't be because of this - its a 999kb file and there should be lots of
memory left on the card (at some stage I have to figure out how to tell what
memory is used/remaining), so that shouldn't be the problem. Also, the IR
has started getting tempermental - spent a lot of time this morning coaxing
my XP computer to recognise the phone. Seems to be hit and miss there too.

Sure - assuming you have the photo already on the phone, go to "contacts"
and pick the contact for whom you're linking a photo and click "details".
This opens the contact. Click "options" and scroll down to "add image" and
click "select". This will dump you into the gallery, where you should open
the folder with the image (probably in the folder "images" ) you'd like to
link (although images imported from a PC wind up in "graphics" ). Scroll to
the image you'd like to link to the contact and click "options" and then
click "select" on the line "save to contacts".
