I am buying a laptop which won't be pushed (no games) too hard, but will be used to watch TV, and so needs a USB Tuner.

I've kind of settled on a Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS and a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop - as I need (or want?!) a 17" screen for the TV.

My problem is the processor....the laptop I've chosen has a Intel Core™ Duo Processor T2300E (1.66 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB).

Whereas the spec for the Tuner demands "Intel Pentium 4 / AMD Athlon XP / Centrino certified CPU 2 GHz or higher ".

Problem: How do you compare a Intel Core Duo processor, with a Pentium 4 processor? Will the T2300E be adequate for the Cinergy tuner?

Reading the forums, it does sound like the Core Duos are so far ahead of the Pentium that it should be fine, however one of the excellent posts I read explained that software can only use one processor at a time (unless written specifically for a multi-processor system), and so I have become worried again.

So, will the T2300E be adequate for the Cinergy tuner?

Thanks,

Stewart
