2 fans in one fan connector

Thinking about buying the "Scythe Kaze Q 3.5" fan controller

It has 4 connectors but I will have more than four fans but is it possible to connect multiple fans into one connector using a 3-pin Y adapter?

if so, will the fans get enough power?

and should I connect the fans for the CPU-cooler to the controller or MOBO?

Would be easier to only have to use 4 channels instead of 8 like the Kaze Q8
