I'm planning on a rebuild my components will be:

CPU: i5 2400 (stock) or i5 2500k (light overclock)
HDD: 750GB 7200RPM
RAM: 8GB 1600 mHz DDR3
DVD drive: 1
GPU: GTX 550 ti
4 fans
4 USB devices

I have a 430W Antec PSU from my current build. Would it work for this new build? If I need a new PSU should I get 500W, 600W? More?

More about : psu

do you have the Antec Earthwatt or Basiq 430w PSU?

you won't break 300w total power while gaming on your PC so you will be fine

The basiq series was just that, basic. The earthwatts units are significantly better, your's has 30A available on the 12 V rail which should be more than enough to run the 550 Ti. If you were building a whole new system from scratch 500 W would be the recommended level but since you already have a 430 W unit that can do it there is no reason to buy a new one.

The Basiq and Earthwatts are the lower end models made by FSP and CWT. The higher end models like the High Current Gamer and High Current Pro are made by Seasonic and Delta respectively.

I talked to a guy from Antec at an ASUS ROG event last week, he said:
Quote:

Also said this about Delta:

Quote:
I visited their factories, they are SUPER clean. I took my finger and wiped it on the ground, there was NO dust.

Sum this up:

Lower end models of Antec made by FSP and CWT

Higher end made by Seasonic and Delta!

The basiq is worse?

it's an older earthwatt but still has 30a on the 12v rail so power wise you are fine. how long have you had the PSU?

and yes, the basiq is more "basic" then the earhtwatt
