Can PSU Blow if GFX Card is not inserted properly in PCI

Hello all,

I was wandering if a power supply can blow if the GFX card is not inserted properly in the PCI-E Slot
 


Yeah, that's what I thought you meant, but I wasn't sure.

Anyway, my original comment on it stands. Not properly inserted just means that the card shouldn't even be active to be able to do any harm.

I suppose it's possible, in one of those strange "never really happens" occurrences, but I really don't think so.

What made you ask this question? Did your PSU die?

A PSU Blew in windows loading screen in an old system and the only thing that was messed with previously was the GFX card.
 


Yeah, I doubt the GPU not being correctly installed/seated had anything to do with that. Just a coincidence.

The system presented some problems and was not always turning on when pressing the power button ,after the RAM have been checked w memcheck stick by stick
