DDR or SDRAM

Im ready to build a new system with all the latest hardware but not sure which Ram to build around, should I use DDR or SDRAM, I will be using 512MB of either one.. any responses would be helpfull !

If you are going for 512MB no matter which kind you use, then go for the faster of the two: DDR. You will get less than 10% improvement in system performance on current DDR-capable hardware. However, it's still an improvement.

Thanks for the info but im also worried about a decent MB, Tom's hasnt given a good review of any DDR MotherBoard that would make me want to run out and get it .. can your recommend one ?

All I can say is do not get a motherboard that has a VIA chipset. They have way too many bugs.
