Hey
I had a dell vostro 230 slim with a core 2 duo E7500 cpu @ 2.93 ghz and i wanted to upgrade it to a gaming pc.
So i upgraded my case "cause it was too small for a good sized graphics card. So i upgraded my case to a zalman z11 and i bought a amd 6850. Then i trasnferd my motherboard to the new case and put my new graphics card in.

I get about 60=120 fps on minecraft, while some other freinds of mine with a 6850 have gotten over 200+ fps
i get alot of lagspikes on battlefield 3, When i change the graphics from ultra to low the fps stays the same at ~30-60 fps but i get lagspikes alot.
skyrim i get about 40 fps

I have a powercolor 6850 from newegg

Is my cpu (Core 2 duo E7500) bottlenecking a 6850 or is is my pci 1.0 slot or is it my dell motherboard

While playing battlefield 3 my graphics card activity % is 60 and my cpu activity is 100%
So is my cpu bottlenecking it after all?

And i heard you cant overclock on a dell motherboard
is that true?

yes, your CPU is severely bottlenecking your card...
also I think 4 GB RAM is little bit to little...
on my setup (8GB RAM) when I play BF3 the RAM usage goes to almost 90%!
OK, I'm running Vista (x64) which is known resource hog, but none the less, BF3 likes RAM and GPU muscle

What cpu do you recommend?

First off, minecraft doesn't run on your GPU, it's a java game, so your processor and ram really come into play and you are kind of lacking there with a core duo and only 4gb of ram. Second your GPU is getting seriously bottlenecked by your CPU. You need to upgrade to something like an i5 to get the performance you're looking for and also adding another 4gb of ram wouldn't hurt (it's really cheap these days).

Get the i5 2500k http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072 it will seriously take your computer to the next level, also I'm not sure exactly what ram you have but 4 gb is really cheap, only around 30$.
Oh and almost forgot, you also need to upgrade your mother board to the lga 1155 socket ( once again pretty cheap) I'm sure with 200$ you could completely upgrade your computer.
