Hi All

This question is with regard to an old compaq presario (2005/2006) that I have been attempting to add some longevity to.

I have been trying to upgrade my stock cooler to an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 but the push pins will not fit through the holes by the cpu as they are made too narrow by the screw holes of the cpu backplate.

I have been reading that it is possible to remove the backplate, but I am sceptical that this is possible as it seems far too secure in the case of this pc.

Is it possible that it is attached in another way, and if so, is it still possible to remove it and complete the upgrade?

I have pics if that helps.

You don't have to remove anything to attach the Freezer Pro 7 to the motherboard. What CPU backplate are you referring to? Only AMD retention brackets have backplates. And you use a different mounting assembly than the push-pin bracket for them. Can you provide a pic?
