A simple question: which PSU should I choose?

Last response: in Components

Hello,

I have a simple question: Which power supply is better:

1) SEASONIC SS-650AM http://www.seasonicusa.com/M12II-Bronze-650-750-850.htm
or
2) SilverStone Strider Essential ST70F-ES http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?area=en&pid=2...

They are both similar in price here, so that's not the problem. I think Seasonic is modular, where Silverstone isn't, but I don't really care about that...

One more thing: please explain to me why did you pick one over the other.

Thanks!

the seasonic is my choice.
reasons:
-modular
-80 plus bronze
-silverstone looks cheap

I think silverstone has 80 plus bronze as well...

But thank you for the opinion.

The Strider Essential is actually 80+ certified, is made by Sirtec (ok mfr but hit and miss quality), is more of a 'value' oriented PSU, has a 1 year warranty, and has 46A available on the 12V rails. The Seasonic is made by Seasonic (top-tier mfr and quality), is 80+ Bronze, has a 5 year warranty, and 53A on the 12V rails. Seasonic is a better PSU by a far margin.

Yes the Seasonic is easily the better PSU as Rugger has said it has a better +12v rail which is important. The build quality is better and the warranty is also much better.
Its also worth noting that other top tier PSU manufacturers such as Antec and Corsair sell a lot of what are basically re badged Seasonic PSU's.

Mactronix :)
