So i noticed yesterday that my cpu temp was getting a bit to high for my liking and I want to get a heatsink to replace the stock one. I need some advice on what I should get/ what can fit in my case. I would like to spend less than 50 but can shell out some more if needed. I am planing on adding a SSD soon and changing my GPU. Thanks in advance.

The second link as has both my board and i think my ram, so the either of those sinks would work.

I have been hearing alot on my search for a heatsink about the Noctua NH-D14. If i can find it on amazon, i can get it for 50 bucks off. Would this fit in my case?

Also with the two heat sinks you listed, what is the average drop in temp.

I have never used stock(On Intel. Did on AMD but it was too loud), So I can not comment on it too much. I did install one for a friend who had a I5 2500K getting too hot, it dropped them temps quite a bit, but not sure the exact temp.

How hot are you getting?

I will try to get you some temps with similar setups(I have a CNPS 10X Flex. Willing to bet it is no better then the 212+ with my slow fan).

the NH D14 is one of the BEST coolers you can get, but is very large.
See this, I think your ram is too tall for this beast.

I got to 75C last night and my screen started flickering. So i cleaned out the fliters and case and it was staying at about 63C with my AC at 78. I looked into it and the nh d14 will cover about one of my ram slots and a little bit of the second one ( enough to fit the ram in but it will be at an angle). I am going to contact cosiar and see if i cant swap mine out for a low profile set. if not I will go with the cool master you suggested.

Ok, just so you know, with Prime95, that places more load then just about any game. I was getting this. This was a short run, i guess I had never saved the 24h+, but the temps even out around the same anyway.

That said, cpu temps do not tend to cause this problem of flickering(And i am sure many users push it over 75c, but that would be under prime95). I would ensure the video card is clean and running in spec as well.
