Hi All,

Currently I have an e8500 chip, 4gb Ram, ati5870 and no SSD. I'm looking at upgrading as theres a few games coming that I am interested in again. I havent had an upgrade in a while so have fallen a bit behind with whats what.

My understanding has lead me to

i5-2500k
16gb DDR3 Ram
Vertex 3 / Samsung SSD.

What I want to know, is.. Is the upgrade from 5870 to a 7xxx ATI worth the £500 its going to cost? I mainly want to be able to play Guild Wars 2 at full everything and all the cheery bits! Battles are supposed to be upto 500 people on screen at once. Also, which would be the nvidia equivalent, as I've had nothing but trouble with the 5870, 9 times outta 10 it wont even boot on my PC first time, the fan just spins flat out, until I off and on it half a dozen times!

Really would prefer to go back to Nvidia, if the option is available.

Cheers for any information you can give.

If you really hate your AMD card then wait for Kepler which is coming in April. I've personally been using a 5870 (with an overclocked 2500k as well) for about 6 months and couldn't be happier. I don't even plan on upgrading just yet since most games at 1080p are silky smooth!
