This build is primarily for Diablo 3. I have read many diablo 3 build threads, but didnt see many builds that used the 965be. Don't need keyboard, mouse, monitor, optical drive. Going to temporarily use a 26" 720p hdtv until i find a good 1080p 24" monitor on sale

My budget is 500-600 dollars.

This was from my android phone, as i don't have a computer currently. Apologies if it isn't up to SOP. I appreciate your insight.

Other thoughts: i have played around with an i3 2120/550ti build as well and got it near the same price. I know that if i want to OC the processor IM going to need to invest in some aftermarket cooling.

Solid budget build.

As far as overclocking, you can OC the 965 to 980 specs without the need for aftermarket cooling. Change the Multiplier in the bios to 18.5 and you can keep the stock cooler and have a stock 980BE for a 965BE price.

I would personally spend another $5 and grab the 530w version of that PSU.

If you could, spend another $40 (before 10.00 MIR) and grab a better vid card:

Although the 6770 will provide a decent expierence playing Diablo 3 as it isnt that graphically challenging. Other games might suffer depending on your resolution.

EDIT:

Here is an amazing deal on a really nice Lian-LI case for 39.99, saving you 50.00 instantly + free shipping.

I neglected to mention that this is my first build. 600 is the absolute Max, but i don't mind not special ending all of it.

What is 40 dollars better on the 6850?

The 6770 is a pansy entry level GPU that will choke and stutter at 1080p. Forget an absolute budget with a PC. Things change too much. I would not go lower than a 6870. It will give you some more breathing room. If I were building a new PC though, I wouldn't go below the 7870.

More processing cores, higher memory interface, can overclock to 6870 range which competes with the 560ti in most cases.

Provided the suggestions are within the person's budget. Telling someone what they should do with money that they may not have available is hardly beneficial...

Too bad. They can't pay then they can go to consoles. PC gaming will never be very cheap to get into and a set in stone budget is madness. Why save $100 or $200 when that $100 or $200 can get you a vastly better GPU? Simple.

Smeg please troll another thread. Your elitist attitude doesn't belong on forums. IM only trying for Diablo 3. Not battlefield 3 maxed to the Max.

BTW i jumped on that case, thanks for that deal!!

The 965BE, it seems like its a very good processor, but i always see people going for fx series even though toms is saying that they aren't "gamey". What gives?

You're welcome for the deal. Had I not have had my new case sitting on the living room floor, I'd have probably bought myself one. :)

Yes the Phenom II chips like the 965BE are nice chips. Again with a simple small overclock, you can have a much more expensive processor, for a lot cheaper and no need for aftermarket cooling.

Yes with your budget, the 6770 will work nicely for Diablo 3, but the 6850 will work a little nicer, but this will also depend on your monitor's resolution.

Thanks a lot pezcore, decided on the 6850.

Also went with the psu that you mentioned, and it included the 1 year plan. Much appreciated.
