A customer has bought a gaming application that requires small fonts to be
enabled, and says to do this via the Control Panel. I know about the display
settings fonts option, but in his current theme no small fonts are available.
Are there any easy way to get round this? I've seen a number of registry
editing suggestions, but not followed this route yet.

Any ideas?

What is the exact wording of
"small fonts to be enabled ... via the Control Panel" ?

Is this gaming application designed for XP?

The exact wording of the error message is that the application "requires your
System Font Size to be set to Small Fonts. Please Change this setting using
the Control Panel, and then re-run the game."

No, the game has a minimum system requirement of Windows 95/98. Which I
suspected might be an issue .....

Display properties> Advanced> General: The default setting is 96 DPI. In
Win9x/ME, the default was "small fonts." If the game will not accept 96 DPI
then, yes, the game's installer is the problem.

Sounds as if the game was written for Windows 95, which might be an issue.
Try running the game in "Compatability Mode"...

Right-click the shortcut to the game.
Properties
Compatability tab

Try various settings for Windows 95 or 98

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried most compatibility mode options, and
the same error message appears at all times.

What I haven't done is actually test the game on a Win98 machine, which I
will do.
