Hello,
I'm wondering if the "Intel i5 3750k Unlocked Quad Core Processor LGA115 3.4GHZ Ivy Bridge 6MB" is compatible with my "Patriot VIPER EXTREME PC3-19200 2400MHz" RAM, as I'm unable to find anything that confirms this.

The motherboard is an ASUS MAXIMUS V FORMULA.

Thanks

@mcnumpty23:
My concern is not the motherboard but the processor. Can it handle that speed? The best specifications I can find state that i5 can run up to 2133MHz.

Care to explain yourself? Why not?

I'll handle both here.

1. If the RAM is 1.5V, it's fine and it WILL almost definitely work. 1.65V will work too, but it supposedly degrades the IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) of the CPU (or the VCCIO voltage required for it does, anyway).

2. Nothing over 1600 is beneficial in ANYTHING, really, unless you're running a RAM disk. We're talking a low single digit percentage difference in performance for anything faster than 1600. Not AT ALL worth the price premium.
