i have tried as5 the white stuff and what comes on stock hsf
i am using what came with the acfreezer pro currently

the reason i had to use the white paste was on my
first socket939 build. everything was new but i had a bad mobo.
i switched and swapped parts trying to find the problem.

but i dont see any big diff in what paste is used.

is the mx-1 the same paste that come with arctic cooling heatsinks?

They last batch of new computers here all used the same parts...and a Thermalright SI-120 cooler. I used the "gray goop" that came with the cooler and all the cpu's run the same 2-3C over room temps.

I really don't think it matters what brand of TIM your useing as long as you first clean the cpu AND cooler with Acetone and then Alcohol and apply the TIM correctly (rice sized amount and 1/4-1/3 of that is used to fill micro pits in cooler...use plastic wrap on finger).

A $1 pack of the generic "white goop" really has enough product to do up to 10 cpu's...a far cry from my first build so long ago when I thought you needed to use the whole tube!
