I want to make music aswell as enjoy music and sound.

previously was using

Previous sound was alway crackling at higher volume
old system using onboard sound with zoom r16 as my primary input for electric, accoustic guitar, bass and mic.
zoom has been playing up refusing to boot without pc connection so trying to fase it out.

Not sure what soundcard and eventualy speakers/monitors to invest in.

Your onboard sound is good (it's the same as I'm using right now with a 95 snr). Personally, I'd use your only PCI-e slot for a video card.
