So my question is, is the 7950 capable of running up to date games such as BF3 and skyrim on high or ultra settings with eyefinity and still going to get playable frame rates? As i have not been able to find any information that isnt showing the card running eyefinity benchmarks by itself, only running in crossfire.

no, you need a lot more power to play on high or ultra in eyefinity.

2x 7970 would be needed.

lower the settings or game on 1 monitor.

where are you getting this information? Because i just came across this page

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/xfx_sapphire_hd...

And right here he's running eyefinity and still getting great FPS with a single card. So how do you know, or can verify that a single 7950 would not be able to run it and get good FPS with high settings.

Interesting article esrever, two 6970's perform almost as well as two 7950's and yet cost less than half the price... been looking for a set of decent bench's saying just that, thanks.

OP, high yes, ultra no.

Yeah, you probably won't get perfect frame rates on high, but it will still not lag.

ONE 7950 can do the same on one screen.

Ok well what if i set everything to low setting? Also what about an older game in eyefinity like world of warcraft that isnt that graphically intense?

A single 7950 should be able to handle older games maxed out just fine. It should also be able to handle most newer games just fine. They wouldn't be maxed out, but it should be higher then low as well.

My 6990 at 6018x1080 in ultra with max AA and AF can only do 40FPS in BF3. This is on a large outside level with loads of explosions, smoke, gunfire. If I add my 6970 for trifire I can do 60FPS. Those charts you linked are a bit deceptive. They don't say exactly what level they have AA and AF set to and it is in high settings. Also 37 FPS is not really playable since thing blur too much when you move around fast. I think you are probably looking at medium settings with AA turned off to maintain 60FPS in eyefinity. The 6xxx series may be yesterdays tech but every bench has the 6990 beating out the 7970 and the 6990 can't do eyefinity in ultra with max AA. BF3 is a massive resource pig.

**edit**

Forgot to answer OP. No a single 7950 will not be able to play bf3 in eyefinity in high or ultra settings with playable framerates. Skyrim is a bit different. It only works with two gpu's max so my 6990 gets between 55 and 60 fps in ultra with FXAA turned on. You might get away with high settings with a single 7950 but you will probably have to turn down AA or not use it at all. As far as older games, I guess it depends on how old you are talking about. I have played wow on a gt120 in low settings at 1366x768 at 60fps so a 7950 will have no trouble maxing it in eyefinity.

It shows that ONE 7970 can max out BF3 with decent frame rate. Now, this is one one display. It would take atleast 2 of these cards to get decent frame rates on 3 monitor in eyefinity. It would take 3 7950.

Here is a video of someone crossfiring two 7970 and playing with eyefinity. Those cards are overclock by %20.

And he's running 30'x3 @ 160-180 Fr/Sec w/ Max details.

my 7950 Runs most games on High in Eyefinity fine.
