Which is better at gaming Gt 440 or Gt 240

since i am using a low end pc with pcie 1.0,
intel p4 ht 3ghz, 1 gigs RAM DDR2?

are there any other cards not pcie 2.1 or 3.0 that would work on my pc

Solution
I'd agree that the GT240 is the faster of the two. Since at this level Dx11 is irrelevant, the GT240 is the better buy.

However, I'd recommend neither. The HD5570, HD5670, HD6570 and HD6670 offer more performance than those for less.

And dont worry about PCI-E x16 1.0, 2.0, 2.1 or 3.0. They are all forward and backward compatible, and the performance difference will be negligible in a budget card.

Why a GTS450?

I know for a fact that the P4 will be easily bottlenecked by a 8800GT, let alone a GTS450. So spending more than required + new PSU isn't really worth it.

Best option is to find a HD5670 GDDR5 card. Those go for around $65, $15 less than a GT440 and offer a lot more performance.
