I7 920 safe voltage parameters.

Hey guys i have an i7 920 and i want to upgrade my memory to 8g bof corsair dominator gt 2000mhz. This memory runs at 1.65V. I read that intel recomends 1.5V, however i know a lot of people that have been using 1.65V on an i7 and they didn't encounter any problems so far(2 years). I want to buy that type of memory because i will be gradualy upgrading my system in the coming months.

1,5 v is recomended for sandy bridge as i recalll ...i am not sure about the 920 ^-. I have the 2600k with 1600MHZ DDR3 @ 1,65 volt (factory) but did lower the ram voltage to 1,575 and everything runs fine ^^
  2. 920 is bloomfiled not sandy bridge, 45nm

    Edit: my bad, misread.

    The headline was very misleading.
A lot of DDR3 memory modules with XMP operate with 1.65v

If you can't post with 1.5 volts, bump it up, no need to use higher volts if your system is stable without it, forcing more volts trough transistor gates is more bad than good.

You'll utilize the 1.65 volts if you ONLY use XMP, and don't bump it up yourself. XMP is designed(and certified) to do what it does, so most probably you'll be fine.

all i7s have the same recomended voltage parameter, nehalem or sandy bridge. I'll just lower the voltage to the same voltage you have. mersi de raspuns!
