hi, am looking at building a pc for the first time for my girlfriends brother who wants a mid range gaming pc, something to play diablo, world of warcraft etc but also watch movies on aswell. i've got a list so far and would appreciate any views on the build. he's budget is £600 ish. here's what i've picked so far

coolermaster elite 330 case with coolermaster extreme power 500w
asus p8768-v lx motherboard
intel i5 2500k
artic cooler 7 pro
corsair 1600 2x4gb
seagate 1tb hard drive
samsung bluray dvd+- rw
windows 7 home 64bit

and now the hard choice would the hd6850 be a better choice than the gtx550 ti ??

thanks for any help

Is it really that bad, or would.it be ok for say 6 months as it came with the case on a bundle offer, but if it is that bad will.look at other options, just means going more over budget as think am going go for the hd6850 over the gtx550ti as online reviews are say the hd6850 is the better card

Thing is if your PSU fails, you can fry your system. I most certainly don't want to take that chance. You can save money by getting a regular DVD RW instead of the blue ray then just add it on on a later date. Its up to you though if you want to take that chance. :)

For the Motherboard, I would switch it over to an Asrock z77 Pro3. Its newer tech, has about the same options for expandability, a PCI express 3.0 port (which would help if you want to upgrade the GPU in the future), and is cheaper (according to Newegg.com atleast.

The rest of your components should work fine.
