Recently two of my Quantum Fireball lct failed on me.
I think its due to heat. I realise that when i put my hand
on the HDD during normal operation, the HDD is really hot.
Has anybody experience this?? Any solutions??

I don't think the Quantum Fireball running by itself without any HDD cooling is the cause of the failures. Are there components clustered together around the position of your hard drive? My IBM 75GXP gets quite warm, but not burning hot.
Nevertheless, cooling is always good, and if you feel like spending the money, go ahead for it.
By the way, if you're not replacing the Fireballs by warranty, I suggest you go for another drive - I recommend the IBM 60GXPs.

someone else posed something similar about his drives makin wierd noises... he had 3 closely sandwitched together not good heat wise
best if you have at least a half height drive bay gap between them.
i have an ibm 16.8gxp and a 40g 60gxp and both meerly run warm, of course the smaller older one runs a bit hotter.

simple solution
SEPERATE OR VENTILATE (or both)
:)
