Hey,
so i have an fx-8120 and a 990fxa-ud3

as said on everywhere bascially, the fx-8120 is a 125W cpu. so does that mean that nomatter how high i clock it, it will only pull 125W from the PSU ?

If so, can i overclock my cpu to 4.6ghz and get a 7970 and run it all with a corsair gs600 or do i need an upgrade ?

It mean on default clocking it max at 125W. overclock mean more W.

The power rating of processors is not an exact science, they are broken down into brackets, for AMD desktop CPUs it is usually 45 W, 65W, 95 W, 125 W, and 140 W, the power rating for the bracket means that most of the time at stock clocks and voltage the processor will not consume more power than that, not that it will always consume 125 W.

If you increase the clock speed or the voltage your power consumption will increase, increasing the voltage will significantly increase your power consumption and also your heat output so make sure you have a good cooler before you try to OC too high.

A single 7970 and an OC'd 8120 will run fine on a GS600.

will the corsair gs600 still handle it ?
