More about what optimal graphics card computer
  1. What brand power supply and.resolution of tv?
Also if.your.old gpu.is overheating have you tried blowing the heatsink out or reapplying.the thermal paste?
  2. Zumax is the brand of power supply.
    Resolution is 1920x1080.

No I haven't, it is an nvidia 8800GT
  3. Reapplying some thermal paste might be the cheapest option.

But if you want a new card in that range I'd go for 6770/6790.
  4. Any links to some tutorials on how to apply the thermal paste?
  5. I would not go lower than 6850. You will have to skip few lunches but it is worth the extra $20 over your budget.

  6. For 1080p I would recommend spending slightly more for at least the HD6850 and preferably the HD6870.

  7. And it will run okay with the specs of my computer?
  8. As long as that psu isn't a truly terrible 500w those cards would be fine.
