I bought from internet a 256MB SD Card for my camera. Very soon it
started to require two insertions before the camera recognised it. This
number gradually increased until it would not recognise it at all. In
discussion with my dealer, it was discovered that it corrupted the
camera so that the subsequent insertion of a good card would not work
until the camera had been powered down. Obviously the card is
defective.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Gordon

You bought the card "from" internet?
Could you please tell us the address of this person who goes by the name
"internet" and who always sells defective memory cards?

I thought that was the reason, but when I discovered that other cards
of different values and of the same value all worked satisfactorily, I
became convinced that it was the card.

One question. It seems from your post that you may be trying to swap cards
while the camera is powered up. Is this true? I find that this is not a
good idea, and many cameras have an interlock on the memory card door that
kills power just for this reason. Removing or inserting a card into a
camera that is powered up can be damaging to the card. Also a card that is
removed when some of the data is still to be written can cause problems.
I would try reformatting this card in your camera and see if this can
possibly clear up some or even all of the problem.

"Similar" experience? No. I never remove or insert a card on a
camera that's on. Could that be the source of your problem? Shrug.
Maybe. Could it have been a marginal card that went bad? Yes.
