Hello!

I'm building a brand new gaming system that would serve me well for a good couple of years to come. I want to be able to do some editing as well, but again, I'm building it with mostly gaming in mind. I'm living in EU so the prices are a tad higher here, but I'm looking at about 1.300 € for the whole system (monitor included)

This is what I've come up with thus far:
-graphics: Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 2GB
-motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
-core: i7 2600k
-cooler: Scythe Mugen 3 Rev.B
-power supply: Silverstone SST-ST60EF (600W)
-ram: G. Skill 8GB PC3-12800 RipJaws X kit
-HDD: Seagate barracuda 2TB 7200
-monitor: Iiyama ProLite X2377HDS-B1

All comments and suggestions are appreciated, especially regarding the monitor - those are definitely not my forte.

Can't thing of nothing better then what you came with! Maybe a cheap ssd sata II 30gb @ $60 for boot and higher memory like 16GB for editing!

I also would go with the 2600k... for editing it can be good, if not now, maybe in the future!

Yea, a 2500k would be better off.
Benchmarkwise, GTX 680 is better, and I've had problems with ATI's drivers, just personal problems though.
I'd say get a 1TB Driver Idk about Seagate but if you get WD get Caviar Black, and get a smaller SSD Boot Drive, 60-120 GB is good.
I'd suggest 16 GB RAM considering you're doing video editing. Personally I'd go with Corsair or Kingston.
Also, I have a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler it is fantastic, I've had my CPU at 4.0 GHz and no heat issues whatsoever.

You plan on getting case fans right? also what case are you getting?

i5, not i7.
Also only in video editing and stuff like that, nothing in video games.

So for my purposes I should get an i5. What about the new ivy bridge i5 3570k? It's only a bit more expensive than the 2500k (29€), so how do the two compare, and ultimately, is it worth the purchase?

@Timendo: I'm planning on picking up Aerocool Vs-9 (http://www.aerocool.us/pgs/pgs-v/pgs_v_vs9.htm). As for the GPU, I wouldn't be able to afford the GTX 680, and I'm probably not gonna wait for 670/670ti to come out. Besides, the 7870 is a pretty terrific card to my knowledge and apparently gives a hefty bang for the buck.

What I'm most uncertain about are the monitor and the motherboard.

Thanks for the feedback thus far!

*** my fault, I was thinking of the 7970, which I believe was released at a price of 600 dollars, GTX 680 was released at 500, I was a little confused, I'm also considering getting a 670, gotta wait for a real job and money first, forget the GPU statement, as for monitor&Motherboard, what are you uncertain about?

Monitor just seems a bit too good to be true (a 23'' IPS Iiyama with 5ms for just under 200€) so I immediately think that there's something inherently wrong with it that I'm missing.
The motherboard - I just simply don't know a lot about those. A friend of mine recommended it, and from what I've read it's one of the best ones that I could get for that price (150€)

post a link to these pieces, and 5ms isn't above average, that's average, above average is 2ms, I have a 19" Samsung 1440x900 2ms, got this like 5 years ago, they were both around 200 dollars.

That's all in Slovakian and chrome is having an error translating it, but from what little I could translate it seems like a good deal.
