Change Keyboard buttons

Probably a few of you that have recent keyboards will notice (rather useless) buttons on the top of your keyboard such as "favourites", "back", "forward" ect.

I was wondering if there was a way to change them so that it can excecute something different like launching a program or something.

A lot of times, the software the keyboard comes with (which normally for me ends up in the garbage within seconds of opening) allows for mapping the keys as you mention. As far as a free/share-ware version out there, I'm not sure.
