$800-1200 Gaming PC

Approximate Purchase Date: Within a month

Budget Range: $800-1200 as said in the title, but I can be swayed for more if there's a significant difference.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Streaming (I currently have an external capture card for console games), Programming

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Mouse, Headset

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: None, but I have Amazon Prime which might save money.

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: Intel CPU board, whatever supports USB 3.0, i5 or i7 processors.

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe, most likely as an upgrade path

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080, I already have one Asus vh236h monitor which I use for gaming, but I'd like to have dual Asus monitors to use for this computer, and probably have a way to switch one between an XBox, PS3 and the PC. I'm open for rocking dual monitors though, widescreen or not.

Additional Comments: For gaming, I want to be able to play current and upcoming games on max settings or close to max settings. I like playing DotA2 which is not too demanding, but I love FPS games as well as fighting games, I definitely want to be able to run something like Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition on max settings. I love Fallout: New Vegas and plan on getting it for PC, and plan on getting Arkham City, Witcher 2, among other games.

I'm not concerned about looks, I want value and function over flare when it comes to cases. I've taken an interest in streaming online, and I know there's internal capture cards on the market, but I'm very inexperienced in this area. I just have a Hauppauge HD PVR which I've used for streaming purposes. If people are knowledgeable here about internal capture cards, I'm open to suggestions on internal capture cards that I could use for streaming in HD.

I don't have a list of parts yet ( I hope this is not rude or anything :(  ), so I'm open to different builds. Thank you for your time. :hello:

Thank you for the quick replies so far, that was fast! I'm currently reviewing both builds.

I want to ask though, should I complement the main HD with a SSD? I've seen these used to complement the main hard drive in higher end builds (correct me if I'm wrong, usually the OS goes here). I'm willing to dish in extra if it helps the OS start up and perform as fast as possible.

Most of this is from NEWEGG. The added blue fans can be changed to green if you like. I changed them because the CM Storm Trooper fans are red but if you like the red theme they can stay and discard the blue/green fans. This build has Ivy Bridge which is the lastest from Intel. This CPU unlocks PCIE 3.0 for upcoming cards. Future-proof? Hell yeah!

Alright, cool. Your build looks great and is my favorite so far. :D

Regarding your suggested monitor: I have one Asus VH236H, which is a 23 inch monitor, but you listed Asus ML228H 21.5" in your build. Any particular reason I should choose this model over a second vh236h?

Lastly, any tools or additional parts I must have for assembly? Unfortunately I haven't built a desktop in years so I'm rusty.. I know screwdrivers are a must, and I know the weather tends to be dry here and we get a lot of static so I'm probably using an anti-static wrist strap. Anything else that I should have on-hand (like thermal compound or other miscellaneous stuff)?

Currently looking into this one as well. Last two builds go over-budget, but I'm willing to splurge if it's justifiable. :)

XFX is manufactured by Seasonic. It's the same company that manufactures the mid and upper tier line of Corsair psu's (TX/HX/AX). Seasonic is about as good as it gets in regards to manufacturing psu's.

Sorry for the bump, just updating to say that I went with Why_Me's suggested build, and I'm typing from it as we speak! Works like a charm, lightning fast.

I went with the stock thermal paste for the Hyper 212 EVO, but if I decide to upgrade or look into overclocking I probably will probably use arctic silver 5, as well as an additional fan for pulling air out of the heatsink (currently there is only one fan, which is pushing air into the heatsink).

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Congrats, nice to see you got everything up and running. :)

That thermal paste that comes with the CM EVO is MX-4 or TX-4...whichever one they decided to box with it, and both are better than Arctic Silver.
