ok, strait to the point, is there such thing as a multicore patch for Intel cpus? I was pretty sure there was one for AMD but i couldn't find one online for intel. I guess im asking now just to be safe. Also i hear of a Microsoft patch for multi-core cpus, is there really such a thing becuase i can't find that one either. Is it something i missed?

thank you Jack for the information, However, i do have a S939 3800+ as the downstairs living room entertainment pc, and i have never installed any of the patches. I did find the Optimization utility from AMD's website but i was never able to find the Microsoft patch...

No patches needed for Intel CPUs: Windows XP and 2k support HTT natively, that is a sort of virtual dual core.
Only the AMD CPUs need a patch for dual core.
