Is a Tx3 the best choice for an fx4100 on an asus m5a88-m? The 212 would be an extremely tight fit in my case and I really don't want to have to remove the mobo again.

I run a TX3, its a great cooler, my CPU usually tops out around 42C when I stress test it or play games for hours on end. Just got to tell you that a 4100 isn't a good CPU for gaming, the Phenom II's usually beat those CPU's in FPS ratings.

Yeah, the TX3 is fine. A 212+/Evo is a few degrees better, but it's not a deal breaker.

Thanks, I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I know the 4100 isn't a good gaming chip, but I haven't played a computer game in about 8 years so if I do I'm sure I'll feel right at home hahaha. Mostly do video encoding and varied simple tasks. I asked about replacing or adding case fans in another thread and was told not to worry about it. I'm just concerned bc in the furture the case will be in a desk cabinet.
