Well I'm new to the forums although I read a lot of the reviews from this site. Anyway on to the point of the post. Since I will be attending college in the coming months and I will be needing a much more even computer instead of one just for gaming as I will be studying computer science.

approximate Purchase Date: Less than a month

Budget Range: $1200

System Usage from Most to Least Important: 3d rendering (blender), gaming, internet

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg and I also have a Microcenter 45 mins away but I don't mind using others.

Country: USA

Parts Preferences: GPU wise: AMD (7850) and Intel CPU

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments:
I have picked out some products I would like have everything built around such as a Intel i5 2500k, ASRock
Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Z77 ATX Intel Motherboard, and a NZXT Crafted Series Phantom Black / Green Trim Steel / Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case or a Corsair 400R. This isnt going to be my first build as I just finished a AMD build 2 months ago that I used as a gaming pc, and for that it was perfect but I have the funds and would like to have more power for when I'm using blender. I will be selling it to add on extras to this new pc like more monitors and aftermarket cooling. Also what would you suggest as a selling price for this?
This is my current pc
Amd FX4100 oc 4.5ghz
Sapphire 6850 1gb
Asus M5A97 motherboard
OCZ vertex 2 60gb SSD (os)
500gb WD hhd
Corsair CX500
Corsair 400R
Kingston HyperX 4gb (2x2gb)
ASUS XONAR_DG 5.1
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212
Samsung Syncmaster 2233 monitor
Windows 7 Home premium

Thank you for your time

Solution
okay here is what i came up with:
CPU
Intel Core i5-2500 3.3GHz Quad-Core
$169.99
CPU Cooler
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing
$19.99
Motherboard
ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 ATX LGA1155
$129.86
Memory
Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
$49.99
Video Card
HIS Radeon HD 7850 2GB
$227.55
Case
Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower
$49.99
Power Supply
SeaSonic 620W ATX12V / EPS12V
$85.99

a few notes since you want to do 3d rendering you may want an i7 2600 this pc is waaaaaay below your budget bt will satisfy your needs and if you want put the loft over cash towards a larger ssd or a big hdd.
or
you could get a 7870
