3-pin and 4pin fan header connections.

Are 3-pin fan and 4-pin fan headers, and vice versa, compatible?

Like say you have a 3-pin fan and plug it into a 4-pin fan header or a 4-pin fan and plug that into a 3-pin fan header. Will they work properly and without issue?

Sorry if it's hard to understand, I'm not that good at explaining such things.

Personally I'd try and verify the pin layout on the header you are connecting to but ...

This of course assumes there is no irritating plastic on the header forcing a standard connector type.

Don't know about 4 to 3, but 3 to 4 works (I'm using it right now for my 6th case fan)
