Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Price Drop?

I'm new to building computers and finding it hard to keep up with all the info, but it's been suggested to me that I purchase an intel core 2 duo processor and I was just wondering if any knows if prices on these may drop some what? I'm trying to build a good system under a small budget.
They currently stand at around $196-$220. I was just wondering if Intel might be releasing something new and something everyone else wants causing a drop in price on the Core 2 duo?

Price won't drop for another 6 months or so in my opinion.

that's what I figured, around xmas time or after probably. Just wanted to see if it was even worth waiting maybe a few months. Looks like I should just go for it.
