Solution
better way to meet requirements?

Go with the new i7-3770K if you can: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116501

did i do something dumb like it wont fit?

The extra case fans are going to be useless. Most cases made after 2009 include plenty so you don't really need them to start with.

As good as that PSU is - it's way overkill for a single 7850. You could drop that to the 750W version and save a bit of money there. The difference there and dropping the case fans you save about $80 which could go toward a 7870.

anything coming up soon i should wait for?

Everything is out that's worth waiting for right now - save for the lower-end Kepler cards but those won't be out for a couple of more...

ok dropped the case fan the alt case came with 3 and could hold 7
but the rose will come with 5 so i agree that should be enough but apparently i only included 1 fan in the total price not 3 like i meant to
so not that much of a saving

took the psu to the

ive killed a number of psus so i always like to over kill but since i will be useing 400 500 watts even after i upgrade it lator yeah too much over kill

the i7-3770K is out of stock at newegg but i guess i could wait a while to see if they get more

Depending on the case fan, keep it. It can help with CPU Cooling.

dont think i could do that and still fit it in my case

also it only seems to come with one fan mounting bracket

The fan you use for that is the Cooler Master Blade Master 120mm 600 - 2000 RPM. It's the fan used on all Cooler Master 120mm cpu heat sinks. It goes for around $10 + free shipping on amazon, and probably close to the same on newegg.
