Antec HCG-620W Blew? Could it take out other parts?

Hey everyone,
I just got a computer built about 2 months ago, and today, the PSU blew. It was an Antec HCG-620W Modular Gamer Power Supply. Is it possible it took out my $400 mobo too? And if so, would I be able to RMA the mobo too? Can Modular Gaming supplies still blow other parts of the system?

Good PSUs (and even most bad ones) will blow themselves up before they damage anything else.

Modular PSUs add one or two extra potential failure points (connections from main PCB to modular connector PCB and then the connections from modular plug to cables) but beyond that, there is little difference in their potential to blow something else up.

High quality units like that are unlikely to blow other components. The general question about modular taking out components they are the same way as units with fixed cables.

Yes it can take out the motherboard AND other parts, we see a lot of it in my shops...

Try a new PSU and see....

And NO they wont accept a motherboard for RMA if the psu blew it...

As stated by Brett, the m/b mfr won't RMA it if it was damaged by the PSU, but I would ask the PSU mfr for compensation if the PSU damaged the m/b.

I haven't read the warranty on stuff I bought in a while but the ones I remember reading only cover the device itself, not collateral damage.
