So i have a gts 250 512....blah blah i know its old. However it does let me play bf3 with better graphics than my xbox.i pull about 45 fps in turbo mode. I found another gts 250 on CL its the 1 gb, which i know doesnt matter and will only use 512mb. But its only $30! but then i saw two gtx 460's 7xx mb for 150$ obviously better choice performance wise with direct x 11 and all that stuff. Im curious how much better two 460's are better than two 250's? It is a 5x price difference technically, but $150 isnt too much. I would just like to see some benchmarks. Is there something im not thinking about? maybe a card I havent really considered. I figure if i am gonna upgrade and spend over $100 i want bf3 on ultra.
Specs.
i5-750
4gb ddr3
gts 250 (duh)
gA p55 ud2

BF3 on ultra... hard for $100 dollars of graphix to do (assuming retail price)... unless ure willing to accept bareley playable (~30) framerates. The fact that your processor is a few generations behind is not going to help... but its not a show-stopper either. The largest concern would be your power supply. I would not recommend 2 460's with anything less then 500 watt PSU - and thats a good one. 600w if its a meh PSU, just to be safe.

The 2 460's you are looking it will be able to pull it off (my bother plays on ultra just fine with 1 480, and a very similar rig) if anything the 2 460 should provide a slightly better framerate - as long as the SLI micro-stutter does not bug you too much.

yeah i figure i wont be able to hit ultra for under $100..maybe high or mostly medium and high. Its just that switch from console to pc bf3...heck even on low it looks better. so do i want to just pay 30$ for sli gts 250...or pony up like $150 -200....a month ago i swapped my gts 250 with a zotac 550ti..and yeah it was better but not enough to my eyes to be worth spending 100$+....so im thinking if i keep my eyes on cl what are the lowest sli pair I could get away with that will give me the numbers to run high to ultra. I know what can run it by itself. Google can find that easy, but im having trouble figuring if 460 sli is the lowest I could go.

yeah...I think ill just suck it up and go with the 460's no point in upgrading something thats not gonna be enough to get high. plus dual 460's will last a lot longer till i ned to upgrade..maybe a whole year lol
