Hey Guys!

Just decided to join Toms after about 6 months of stealthing around the forums! I've seen some pretty constructive advice so I've come to trust you guys!

I'm building a PC for a friend, hes budgeted me around 650$ tax and shipping included. I'm shipping to Canada.
He already has peripherals, screen, and case.

He wants the PC for gaming. Preferably the ability to play all games on High (not Ultra) like D3, HoN, and any new COD/BF3

Here's what I've put together:

RAM: Corsair CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance 4GB 2X4GB - 55.30$
DVD: ASUS DRW-24B1ST 24X SATA DVD Writer OEM Black - 24$
CPU: Intel Core i3 2120 Dual Core Hyperthreading Processor LGA1155 3.3GHZ Sandy Bridge 3MB - 117.62$
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870 900MHZ 1GB 4.2GHZ GDDR5 - 174.99$ - I really want to get him a 6950, but I can't seem to find the space in the budget
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB SATA3 6GB/S - 91.16$
MOBO: ASUS P8Z77-V LX Z77 ATX LGA1155 DDR3 CrossFireX 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 - 132.70$ - Z77 Is important so he can upgrade the CPU later
PSU: OCZ StealthXStream 2 500W ATX12V 24PIN - 52.99$
Total: 649$

Let me know if you have any advice/changes

Thanks!

change the ram to g.skill ripjaw series 8gb 1600Mhz. $47

change the dvd drive to the asus 24x(not the black) $18

Your Psu isn't the greatest. This antec 550w will be better for only $12 more.

Don't worry about getting the 6950. He can crossfire later if he wants to upgrade.
The 6870 is a good Video card and fits perfect in a $650 build. If you went with a 6950 you'd probally have to scale all the components down and then you'd have a mismatched pc lol.

Good luck with the build!
