I am building a new ivy bridge computer soon. My goal is for an under $450 rig and I am already at $400 without my graphics card. Is it worth it to buy a separate graphics card, or will it not perform as well as hd-4000? I am also willing to consider getting a cheaper cpu without hd-4000 to save money and putting it into a graphics card. Which of these seems like the better idea?

if your going to game and depending on resolution you going play at

if your playing at 1080P then its always best get a descrete graphics card

if you choose to then wait till ivy bridge is out before decideing waht GPU to get maybe you be able save lil more money and might see what low/mid end of AMD GPU and Nvidia's line up

here is a benchie of HD 4000 vs 2000

as you can see its better then HD 2000 and 3000 but not by a whole lot

^ This.

You are extremely unrealistic about building a gaming computer for $450. Try $600-$700 and up especially if you need things like Windows and a monitor and keyboard and mouse.

Our familys most recent computer was an intel core 2 with 4 gigs of ram and an ati radeon hd 4360. It plays all of the games I will be playing on this flawlessly. I have heard that hd-3000 is about equal to a $50 graphics card and hd-4000 is better than that so shouldn't I be fine without a dedicated graphics card?
