Strange blue lines on my screen

Hi,
I recently had a thin blue line appear on my monitor. It runs from the top of my screen to the bottom of my screen, about 6 inches from the left side and is slightly wider at the bottom. It does not appear on a white background but shows itself on darker backgrounds. Can you suggest a remedy to repair or eliminate it?

This is unfortunately probably a fault with the monitor, the only cure is a new monitor. To confirm try a different monitor or try the monitor on another computer.
