Hello,
Looking at Radeon 7770 based cards. Current mb supports 2.0 x16. Is the 3.0 backward compatible? If so, is there a performance hit?

Thanks,
ZP

Solution
yes they work, and for now there is no performance increase in 3.0 so there will be no performance hit, but some say that in future some motherboard updates "may" increase the 3.0 slot speed for graphics card, but for now there will be no performance hit since there is no performance gain for 3.0...

Solution
Yes PCI Express 3.0 is backwards compatible with PCI Express 2.0 slots. Like ricardo said there is no performance increase from it because there is no CPU in the market that fully utilizes 3.0. As for the motherboard stuff i didnt hear of such a update. Other than when ivy bridge comes out, the new Chips will fully utilize 3.0
