Monitor Resolution: No preference
Additional Comments: I want to build a computer with the future in mind. My choices of parts have thus been influenced by the idea of longevity, it may not be needed now, but for the nominal extra investment I would like to get something which will last.
Hard Drive(s) - Samsung 830 256GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820147164
(I have read that it helps game performance to have 2 drives working in Raid 0. I have also heard, however, that this has to cut out the TRIM function of the SSD drive. The rebuttle to that I heard was that some intel motherboards allow both to function together. So I am wondering your guy’s advice, is it feasible to do 2 SSD drives in Raid 0 on an Intel motherboard, or is this pointlessly expensive / inefficient for the possible gains?)
Memory - G.Skill Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus 76.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
LG GH22NS90B DVD/CD Writer
Total - $1875
I guess I should add that the advice I am looking for is where I am going way overboard, or where there is a better deal to be had. (Eg. This is roughly equal in power but $50 cheaper). My main concern is the PSU / MOBO. I am not sure if the PSU I have listed is overkill. As for the MOBO, I am not sure if there is something better / cheaper, or if I should be looking for something a bit more pricey. Also, not sure if the case + cooler I have selected will be able to keep the system cool.
