Firt, if I don't manualy disable my ZIO smartcard USB reader before unpluging it, I get a message telling me I should always disable the device before unpluging it. I did not have that message on my previous computer. Only since I use the KT7A Raid.
Second, even if I do manually disable the device before unpluging the next time I plug it, I get an error message saying that I did not disable the device last time I used it. And I can't use it any more.
I tryed everything to be able to use the USB device again, uninstalling the USB stuf in Safe Mode... nothing worked. The only way I found was to format my HDD again. And I did it twice, and again and again, I can use my USB device only once.
What is wrong? I am going crazy over that stuff!
Haha.
PS. I am using Win2K and I did unstall the software package 2n which is suposed to fix some USB problems.
The system chipset and controllers are the logic circuits that are the intelligence of the motherboard. These often function better with updated drivers, just like any other device.
If you look at this FAQ page, you'll get a better idea of what the chipset drivers can do for your system.
You'll see that VIA recommends that all chipset users should install the 4-in-1 drivers to improve performance, fix issues, and minimize any incompatibilities.
This page will tell you exactly what the drivers are:
OK. It looks like I have this problem only with the front USB plugs. If I use the back plugs, there is no problem. Right now, the front USB are not usable any more, and I did disable USB error detection. What could be wrong?
Is the original error gone with the SmartCard Reader (if you only use the USB ports in rear of the can) since you disabled the error detection? Are all the Universal Host Controllers listed in the Device Manager?
Maybe you should tell me a little more about your system, if you don't mind.
If this is an OEM machine, perhaps you should contact the manufacturer, and see if they have a workaround.
