I was given a $25 gift card. Anyone have suggestions as to what the
best xbox games around are in this price range?

If that gift card is from Best Buy, the one I went to earlier today
(Easton in Col. OH) has Mortal Kombat:Deception for 19.99 (as advertised).

If it is a Best Buy gift card, you can buy "Breakdown" and still have $20
left on the card...

Assuming new and unused, check out the $20 platinums. Quite a few good ones
such as the first two "Splinter Cells" and "Burnout 3".

I'm more into racing, so following is subjective.

"Toca Race Driver 2" is only $20 and is now packed with "Colin Mcrae Rally".
Get both games for $20. TOCA2 is my third favorite "general" race sim
(Forza, GT4, TOCA2). "Colin Mcrae" is pretty good, although I like
"Rallysport Challenge 2" better.

Want a really challenging race sim? For $15 (or less), you can find
"IndyCar 2005". Graphics aren't photoreal (like, Forza/GT4/TOCA) but they
are clean. The rest of the game more than makes up for it though. Be
forwarned though, to get on the podium with "IndyCar 2005" will require
intense precision with both tuning and driving. Its pure sim and it's
extremely unforgiving. Coming off your race line for even a fraction of a
second could lose you a position before you even realize it. Any NASCAR-ish
bumping and paint swapping can very likely end with you being quite aquinted
with the wall. While under a green flag, you'll not only be shifting,
accellerating, braking, but also doing the open-wheel stuff like
weight-jacking and changing fuel mixtures. Intense learning curve, but
rewarding once you get it down.

Cheers!

If you're at all interested in military strategy games like Axis and Allies
or Risk, then Dai Senryaku is a must-have. I didn't see it at Best Buy
though so I got mine at GameStop or EB Games or whatever is in my local
mall.
