First Gaming Build

This will be my first build which will be mostly for for gaming and some web surfing. I'll want to be able to run the latest games on high settings such as Diablo 3 and Max Payne 3, as well as Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Crysis 2 etc. Single Monitor at 1920x1080. The budget for my build is £1,000 (or a bit more if it's worth it). I'd also like my build to be as quiet as it possibly could.

Approximate purchase date: Within the next week
Budget range: £1,000 - £1,200 (lower the better)
Usage from most to least important: Diablo 3, Max Payne 3, Mass Effect 3 - basically the latest games as well as being future proof
Preffered website(s) for parts: Whichever provides best value - Mostly Amazon but I've heard about these other sits: aria.co.uk, novatech.co.uk, overclockers.co.uk, scan.co.uk
Country: United Kingdom
Parts preferences: Would prefer Nvidia but wouldn't mind ATI if it's much better value
Overclocking: Maybe
Not Needed: Keyboard, Mice, Headset, Windows OS, SSD (M4 Crucial), optical drive
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe
Monitor resolution: 1920x1080

Below is the build I came up with but I'm not entirely sure if it's any good and worth the money, but obviously any recommendations or improvements would be much welcomed.

Now all I need is the video card but I have no idea which one to get??? I'm looking towards the GTX 570 but I'm thinking that's not powerful enough to run the latest games at high settings and be future proof???

Any advice and recommendations would much appreciated guys. Many thanks.

  1. I think that's a really solid build - it looks almost exactly like mine :)
Check the best cards for the money article on this site to see what u can do within your budget.
Case may need another couple fans if u add another gpu - have to check ur temps.
  2. Looks just fine. For the card, this Sapphire 7950 would be best:

As you can see, it buries the GTX 570.

Scan is easy to use and usually has the best prices. Comparison shop and you should stay under the 1K lid.

    Crucial CT128M4SSD2BAA 128GB M4 SSD 2.5 inch with bracket
  4. I think the better cooled and overclocked 7950 is the better value there, or the 7870 Why_me linked is a good value as well. The 7970 is OK, but I wouldn't personally buy it. Why spend the extra money on a quiet case if you are putting a GPU with a reference fan in there?

Whatever you do, stay away from the hi-res texture packs and such in Crysis 2... that game is buggy enough without the add ins. :p
