How much is the difference between the 980X and the 3960X regarding performance in real life?

Which will overclock better and how will the efficiency differ?

the 3960X/3930K will be the better overclocker, 1st gen i7's we're quite hot, but 1st gen i7's keep up very well with the new sandy bridge extreme, so if you have a 1366 mobo, and can get the 980X for a good price, that would be the way to go

Just get a 3570k or 2500k, both are cheaper than the 2 CPUs mentioned and both will keep up with the 980X in gaming.
They overclock pretty well too
