Acceptable Voltage ranges?

Just curious about how far the voltages should differ. I just got my new build up and running and am in the bios looking at how stupidly high my CPU temp is. AM2 3200+ and idling at 63C.

Anyway I have a post in the CPU section asking about that. What I'm wondering here is what my range of volts should be. Here's what my bios says:

Vcore Voltage........1.42V
3.3V......................3.38V
5V Voltage.............5.18V
12V Voltage...........12.69V

These numbers haven't fluctuated at all in the past half hour that I've been watching. I guess I just want to make sure the PSU isn't a dud. It's an Antec Smartpower 2.0 500W

Thanks for your time :)

All those look fine to me, certainly not the cause of your temperature issues and I think Antec generally make very good power supplies.

Cool I didn't know about the +-5%

In that case the 12V is a little out of that range. I guess 12.69 isn't too bad tho

thanks all

heat is coming from the 1.42vcore. 3200+'s run at what 1.35? i have the same issue, i got an opteron 146 @ 1.42v runs at 38*C. i overclocked it to 2.4 GHz and its still at 38*C

Clean your CPU cooler, re-mount it, and put some proper thermal compound on to bring those temps down. I'm guessing you're using the stock heatpad?

And if it is as Pengwin says that the Vcore is too high, bring that down!

Perhaps replace the CPU cooler if all else fails.

According to ATX and chipsets/CPUs specifications, the voltage tolerances are as follows:

VCore: +/-50mV
+3.3V, +/-5V, +/-12V: +/-5%

Don't relay on BIOS or software diagnostics readings: mobo ADCs have very poor accuracy , if you want to be sure measure them with a good +/-1% multimeter.

the vcore is too high, i have a Zalman 7000-CU mounted on my Opty 146. my vcore cant go below 1.4v.

I was doing some research on RAM and found a lot of mixed reviews in the forums. I wanted to buy 2GB of RAM that would not be a problem to overclock with this mobo. As with everyone, price is always a constraint - somewhere in the $150-$200 range.

QUESTIONS:
-what is the RAM voltage level required to overclock nicely on this mobo, without any hitches?
-what SKU/brand do you recommend?

THANKS!

PS. I've never overclocked before, so I dont want to take the chip to it's extreme limits. Just want to punch it up as high as I can within safe levels, to get the biggest bang for my buck.

what the....absolutely...omg

look. Fishbio. The more you spam and try to steal threads the less people will reply. This is the PC case/PSU/mods forum. not the RAM go to the homebuilt make a post and people will help u there
