Okay, so I just recently bought a HIS radeon hd 6750 graphics card. I need to hook it up to the psu, but the problem is my psu doesn't have a 6 pin connector ( which is the only cable that will fit in the card ), in fact, my power supply is all SATA cables. Is there some type of converter I can buy? Or am i just completely noobin' out and missing the obvious here.

Your PSU should have 4-pin molex connectors, and you can get a 2 molex to 1 PCI-e power adapter/connecter to hook it up. I wouldn't recommend it for a high end card, but you should be able to get by with that on a 6750.

Link if you don't already have one on hand (they're about $5):

That's the problem... my Psu doesn't have a 4-pin molex connecter. It's just the 20 -pin molex and the rest are SATA power cables.

Well, I think I may have found an adapter that solves my problem. I should upgrade my psu since it's only 300w... but I don't have the money at the moment.

as for the link, I couldn't even tell you what psu it is. It's the factory one that came with the new Hp p7-1226s model. Here's a link to the specifics of that computer though...

Actually, do i even need to hook it up to the power supply? I mean, I can get it working without it, but I feel like I could be losing performance without the extra power.

You should just wait until you have like $50 for a new power supply like this one:

I've never heard of a PSU not having 4-pin molex connectors... not in the last 10 years or so.

This only happen in brand name system like HP ..Dell.. Acer ... never happen in DIY Market....

That's why if you need gaming don't even think buy a brand name computer and upgrade later
