Computer Freezing after one minute

Dell Insprion M2N61-AX Motherboard 1GB Ram AMD Athlon X2 Core Duo
HDD Seagate 160GB Sata

I recieved this computer from my brother the other day. I know when he had it win xp would take 20 minutes to boot, so i decided to install Lubuntu since im just looking for fast simple computer from it. I deleted the Win xp and wrote Lubuntu on top. After installing it onto the HDD i booted it up and then one minute or so it would freeze. I had to preform a hard restart to shut it off. I even tried installing it on the HDD and also another HDD multiple times, and its still freezing. I'm wanting to use this computer without buying any extra parts for it, so if anyone can offer help that would be great.
