Hi Guys,

I'm after some advice on a new ADSL2 Modem/Router (I prefer it also has Wireless even though I wont be using it straight away).

Anyway, it is mainly for gaming so I want something that will give me the best possible speeds and connection.

I've been looking at the Netgear DGNG3700 and the Netgear DGN3500.

What do you guys think about those? I know most modems get hot but I also prefer something that wont cook on me on the first day. Having said that though, I do turn my modem off when I am not using it.

Thanks

I have always used a separate modem and router. The combo units might save a few watts of power and eliminate a power adapter, but if your DSL gets updated next year then your router will be obsolete too. Or if you unexpectedly move and must go with cable instead of DSL (this has happened to me twice) you will need to move your router settings to a new one. And you have more choice in routers if you avoid the combo unit.
