Vaio shut off for no reason

Hello,
Vaio laptop shuts off when moved about. Powers goes off. Not proper shutdown. Just hard power down.
What can it be?

loose battery connection? something shorting?

Yes it seems to short. I even thought perhaps the static on my skin was triggering the power switch to shutdown. The battery is well seated and never been removed. What kind of shorts can occur internally? Can they be fixed without replacing the motherboard?
